Snow Hill is the seat of the Worcester County government, founded in 1642 and named for a district of London. Snow Hill was made a royal port by William & Mary of England. Goods came through the thriving shipbuilding town for taxation.
Snow Hill stands along the banks of the wild and scenic Pocomoke River, one of Maryland's most beautiful waterways, and is home to over 100 houses over 100 years-old.
Despite a disastrous fire in 1893 destroying downtown, several pre-Revolutionary War structures remain and are carefully preserved and maintained. |
